FAQs

What ingredients do Heka Remedies use? For our bath products, we use natural ingredients that are nourishing for the skin with fragrances that are skin safe and phthalate-free.  For our candles, we use 100% soy wax which is all-natural, biodegradable, and water-soluble.  Our fragrances are paraben free and infused with essential oils.

Why do I need to trim my wicks? Trimming your wick helps control the flame height.  Too big of a flame will cause the candle to burn too hot, which isn't safe.   Having too long of a wick will also create and cause black soot. We recommend that before each burn, you cut the wick 1/4 inch using a wick trimmer or some scissors for cotton wicks, or use your fingers if you are using a wooden wick.

How do I reuse the candle jar? If you want to reuse your vessel, allow hot water with dish soap to soak inside the jar for about an hour.  After soaking, wash your jar with warm soapy water and a sponge, leave to dry and reuse in any way you'd like!

What is tunneling? Tunneling when the wax near the center of your candle burns deeper than the edges. To avoid this, on your firt burn, keep your candle lit for a minimum of two hours so the wax can melt to the edge of the vessel.

Why can't I burn my candle for more than 4 hours?  Leaving your candle burning longer than 4 hours will cause carbon to build up on the wick causing it to mushroom.  This mushroom shape causes the wick to be unstable and will produce a flame that is too large and the cande will burn too hot, which is unsafe.  Always allow you candle to fully cool before relighting.

Why isn't the appearance of my candle completely smooth? Because our candles are made from all natural soy wax, they can sometimes differ in appearance. Natural waxes like soy wax contain vegetable oils, these oils are a natural product and reset in a natural form.  This will not affect the quality or burn time of your candle. We do not use dyes in our candle, but fragrance oils can differ in shade and may tint the wax.
